WORD FOR THE SECOND WEEK (10TH SEPT, 2023)

HOW WE CAN RESPOND TO GOD’S GOODNESS

As believers, our response to God’s goodness should be one of gratitude and trust. We can thank God for all the good things he has given us, our families, our homes, our jobs, our health, and so much more. According to Genesis 1, everything God created was “very good.”

In Exodus 33, Moses requests that the Lord reveal him his magnificence. God reacts by passing by and declaring;

“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love for thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin.”

David states in Psalm 23, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.”

According to John 3:16, “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,”

These are just a few examples, yet they reveal our God’s character: one who we can also trust in his character, even when life is hard. As the psalmist writes in Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
